Achilles Tendinitis Treatment Tusmore
Day in and day out, at Heel Pain Clinics of Adelaide, we manage numerous instances of Achilles Tendon Injuries, a condition also known as Achilles Tendonitis. It is often characterized by inflammation or degeneration stemming from overuse and excessive stretching of the Achilles tendon. We’re committed to assisting patients in Tusmore with their recovery.
What Are The Symptoms Of Achilles Tendinitis?
Patients who come to us with Achilles injuries often report a similar set of experiences:
- Pain and stiffness in the region upon rising in the morning
- The discomfort subsides somewhat after mobilising and warming up, often facilitated by a warm shower
- The pain typically returns after prolonged activity, particularly when involved in running, tennis, football, or dancing
What Are The Causes Of Achilles Tendon Injuries?
The Achilles Tendon is usually subjected to three common injuries:
- Achilles Tendinitis (Achilles Tendon inflammation)
- Achilles Tendinosis/Tendonopathy (Achilles Tendon degeneration)
- Retrocalneal Bursitis
At Heel Pain Clinics of Adelaide, Achilles Tendinitis presents most commonly and is characterized by acute inflammation.
Achilles Tendonopathy or Achilles Tendinosis is the progressed stage of chronic Achilles Tendinitis that is not characterized by inflammation. Rather, these patients have scarring thickening and/or microtear breakdown of the tendon. There is usually no redness or warmth of the surrounding tissue, although the area can be painful to touch.
At Heel Pain Clinics of Adelaide, we sometimes encounter cases of Retrocalcaneal Bursitis. This condition is characterized by inflammation within the sac-like structure filled with lubricating fluid, which is located between the Achilles tendon and the heel bone. It is probable to find a noticeable bony protuberance on the outer-top edge of the heel’s backside, commonly referred to as a Haglund’s deformity.
