The medial and lateral plantar nerve stem form the tibial nerve, which is in the leg. The medial plantar nerve is the bigger of the two divisions and runs along the bottom inside of you foot.  When the medial plantar nerve is entrapped it can generally be confused and misdiagnosed as plantar fasciitis and plantar fasciosis. There are some difference that are important to note these are a sharp, tingling and can  be a shooting pain. It is quiet hard to differentiate and get a clear diagnosis as the nerve itself is so small it is rarely picked up on an MRI or a nerve conduction test. We recommend to try all conservative treatment and measure before heading down the surgical path way.

Other reason can be due to fracture, prominent and fractured heels spurs and in the rare cause a plantar fasciotomy.
