Why is heel pain more common in your 40’s and 50’s?
Heel pain can affect all age groups and isn’t reserved for a particular bracket. The main factor taken into account is the level of activity. In the young adult age bracket of 20-34, the most common cause is due to a high level or an increase in physical activity whereas in older age bracket of your 40’s and 50’s, the cause can still be that high level of activity but is more commonly due to an increase in weight, an accumulation of damage to the the tissue and potentially doing a bit more walking than your body is used to. Fun fact, the average person takes around 5000 steps per day and as you can imagine, that’s quite a lot of mileage after a few months!
