FACEBOOK LIVE- WHY ROLLING A FROZEN DRINK BOTTLE AND BALL UNDER YOUR FOOT WON’T HELP YOUR HEEL PAIN LONG TERM

Will rolling your foot on a drink bottle or massage ball get rid of heel pain? The answer is a yes and no.
An analogy our Exercise physiologist Josh likes to use is if you picture a dam leaking.
If we’re only patching up the leaks, but there’s still issues elsewhere, no matter how many times we patch up those leaks it’ll always come back.
That’s what rolling the drink bottle will do, it will help loosen out the structures underneath the foot and promote more blood flow to warm it up so it’s ready to stretch. It’s an effective short term pain reliever that you can do as an interim but it’s only a small part of how we actually treat it. So if you’re only doing this exercise, you’ll still get that sharp pain coming back for those first couple of steps out of bed or a chair.
